An Echo of Centuries: With roots tracing back over two centuries, Giacomo Borgogno e Figli's legacy is a journey through time. A founding figure among the wine pioneers of the Langhe, this storied cellar resonates with a tradition that has endured through changing eras. Its library collection, meticulously preserved since its inception, holds the key to unlocking Barolos that have matured gracefully over a decade in the sanctuary of the cellar.
Guardians of Tradition: A heritage passed through generations, the estate's name transformed in 1967 to Giacomo Borgogno e Figli under the stewardship of Cesare Borgogno. With unwavering dedication, the estate embraced the timeless practices ingrained in the family's ancestral vineyards. From their land holdings, wines continued to emerge, embodying the essence of centuries-old winemaking traditions.
A Journey in Transition: For 247 years, the Borgogno family nurtured the estate, a custodian of tradition and taste. Cantina Del Pinot

Picture
Cantina del Pino: A Timeless Legacy Rooted in Barbaresco's Soil
Unearth the storied vineyards of Cantina del Pino, a testament to time-honored traditions and a passion that runs through generations. Nestled within the embrace of Barbaresco, these vineyards boast a legacy that dates back nearly a century, carrying the essence of Nebbiolo grapes that birthed the illustrious Barbaresco wines.
A Journey Back in Time: The tale of Cantina del Pino intertwines with the very origins of Barbaresco itself. Nearly a hundred years ago, Domizio Cavazza, the esteemed former director of the Royal Enological School in Alba, carved history by cultivating these vineyards. It was under his guidance that the name "Barbaresco" graced wines crafted from Nebbiolo grapes, elevating the region to an icon of Italian winemaking.
A Living Tribute: The name "Cantina del Pino" finds its roots in a symbolic gesture – the planting of a pine tree to commemorate the birth of Cavazza's first son. Though his family did not continue his legacy, the Vacca family stepped in, nurturing Cantina del Pino through four generations. What began as a tribute has flourished into an enduring emblem of dedication and authenticity.
Where Tradition Meets Terroir: In the heart of these vineyards, tradition marries terroir, giving rise to wines of unparalleled character. Family-managed with unwavering care, the vineyards draw their bounty from the Ovello and Albesani sites – among Barbaresco's finest. From these older vines, Nebbiolo grapes are coaxed into wines that honor the land's essence.
A Symphony of Varieties: Cantina del Pino's repertoire is a symphony of flavors, embracing Barbera, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo. While Nebbiolo hails from the prized Ovello and Albesani vineyards, Barbera and Dolcetto journey from the surrounding Piedmont and Langhe. Vinified with distinct care, these wines celebrate the land's diversity and the skill that guides their creation.
A Pledge to the Earth: With profound reverence for the environment, Cantina del Pino treads lightly on the earth. Chemical fertilizers are shunned, replaced by an ethos of environmental stewardship. These 40-year-old vines stand as silent witnesses to this dedication, nurtured in harmony with nature.
Unfiltered Elegance: In every bottle, the story of Cantina del Pino unfurls, untouched by filtration or fining. Each sip carries the legacy of its origins, the terroir that shaped it, and the generations that tended to its growth. Cantina del Pino is more than wine; it is a living testament to Barbaresco's soul and a testament to the magic that transpires when tradition, terroir, and time intertwine.

Verberti

Picture
Viberti: A Journey Through Generations of Excellence
Antonio Viberti's vision ignited a legacy that continues to shine through the ages. His acquisition of the revered "Al Buon Padre" inn in Barolo's Vergne district marked the inception of a remarkable story. The adjoining farm, producing the wines that graced the trattoria's tables, set the stage for Viberti's early triumphs.
Roots of Dedication: In those formative years, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo grapes emerged as the cornerstones of Antonio's vinicultural journey. His wines, lovingly crafted from these varietals, exclusively adorned the inn's menu, igniting a passion that was to define generations.
A Legacy Transformed: The torch passed to Antonio's son, Giovanni, in 1967, alongside the support of his wife Maria. Maria's warm rapport with the trattoria's patrons became pivotal in propelling both the restaurant and winery forward. As the culinary maestro and heart of the kitchen, Maria masterfully prepared dishes with the freshest local and seasonal produce, accentuating the winery's ascent.
Cultivating Ambitions: The '70s marked a time of prolific expansion. The farm burgeoned, historic vineyards flourished, and a modern cellar was born, unlocking the full potential of Barolo's grapes. The late '80s saw the winery embark on a path of innovation, experimenting with single-vineyard winemaking in stainless steel under controlled temperatures. European horizons beckoned, leading to the winery's initial steps onto international stages.
Continuing the Legacy: Giovanni's legacy continued to flourish as he handed down his passion and knowledge. His youngest son, Claudio, represents the third generation, carrying forth the Viberti torch. As the guiding hand in the winemaking process, Claudio employs the wisdom bestowed upon him, an unbroken chain linking the past, present, and future.
A Journey to New Horizons: Today, Viberti stands as a beacon of commitment and innovation. With an annual production of 70,000 bottles and an enthusiastic young team, the winery's horizons are boundless. The flagship BAROLO remains the pinnacle, epitomizing the Langhe region's essence. Yet, new projects like 'DOLBA' and 'Langhe INISJ' illuminate the path forward, infusing the winery with fresh energy and promise.
Generations United: The journey, while marked by innovation, remains steeped in tradition. Viberti's wines tell stories of generations united by a love for the land, a passion for winemaking, and an unquenchable thirst for excellence. It's a tale that captures the heart of Barolo, resonating through the ages and celebrating the remarkable journey of Viberti.

At the heart of it all is the MARTINENGA estate, near Alba in the Langhe, where Nebbiolo grapes thrive, shaping iconic Barbaresco and Barbera d.o.c. wines, along with Cabernet Sauvignon. Innovative spirit is evident in the newer vineyards of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

Martinenga: Where Heritage Blossoms into Excellence
Once known as "Villa Martis" in Roman times, Martinenga holds a legacy that continues to thrive today. Its 11 hectares (29.5 acres) of Nebbiolo vineyards are revered as one of the Langhe's most distinguished single vineyards for producing Barbaresco d.o.c.g. The unique blend of optimal southern exposure and the soil's blue marl composition give birth to fruit that transforms into an extraordinary Barbaresco of unmatched finesse and class. With a recent expansion, the winery now embodies the means to craft the highest-quality products, remaining steadfast to oenological traditions rooted in the estates under di Grésy's care.

Unveiling Vezza d'Alba: Where History and Culture Converge
Nestled in the Northwestern expanse of Italy lies a gem known as Vezza d'Alba. This quaint town is a living testament to the tapestry of history and culture, bearing witness to the footprints of prehistoric tribes that span across ages, from the enigmatic Stone Age to the intricate web of ancient Roman roads. The Romans, recognizing its allure, sought refuge within its embrace, turning it into a verdant oasis away from the bustling metropolises. The picturesque landscape and bountiful agricultural riches deemed it a haven of beauty.
Within this enchanting realm, a symphony of flavors and fragrances awaits. Vezza d'Alba stands proudly as the cradle of white truffles, treasures that are meticulously unearthed by skilled canine companions in the lush forests. A testament to nature's opulence, these truffles are celebrated as some of the most coveted ingredients in the world.
Yet, above all, it is the noble wines that grace Vezza d'Alba's essence with a regal touch. The land echoes with the presence of Nebbiolo, a grape variety that commands reverence as one of the finest in the global viticultural panorama.
Where there are noble wines, there dwell noble families that have written their legacy upon the annals of time since the age of knights and castles. Through Medieval eras to modern days, these families have nurtured their connection to the land, cultivating a heritage that has stood the test of time.
In this fertile soil, the roots of the Battaglio family have woven themselves through centuries. Their story echoes with the rich narrative of the town's past, with Giovanni Battaglio ascending to the prestigious title of "Cavaliere del Lavoro" in the early twentieth century – a symbol of recognition for his profound agricultural contributions, including the mastery of winemaking.
Guiding this legacy with a skilled hand and a heart attuned to tradition is Gianluca Battaglio, a certified oenologist. As a custodian of the family's heritage, Gianluca harmoniously weaves ancient winemaking wisdom with the embrace of modern, natural techniques. His commitment to the land and its gifts is an embodiment of the legacy passed down through generations, a testament to the enduring spirit of Vezza d'Alba.

His artistry extended to the meticulous selection of the finest products, all while maintaining a steadfast commitment to preserving the environment's delicate balance.
In the present day, Gualtiero stands as a steadfast guardian of tradition and sustainability, upholding his enduring commitment with unwavering dedication. Walking alongside him is his son, Pietropaolo, a virtuoso in the craft of winemaking and the orchestrator of production within the winery's hallowed walls. With a seamless blend of expertise, Pietropaolo also lends his mastery to the marketing facet of the journey.
Bound by a shared devotion that transcends generations, the legacy of La Spinona continues to evolve.
